This year we had a virtual school tour. We travelled to China and Italy! We brought out passports and tickets onto our virtual plane. We did presentations on what we had learned. We ate pizza, garlic bread and dumplings. We also had a chopstick challenge!! We sent postcards home to our families. Happy Christmas from everyone in Mount Palmer N.S. We are doing a ‘Run into Christmas’. We are running ten laps of the school each day. We measured around the school with a trundle wheel. Ten laps is a kilometre. Our plan is to get fit by running ten laps every day up until Christmas. We have been learning about toys from the past. Ms. Orme had a Jack in the Box when she was younger. There were usually no batteries in toys long ago, they were usually push toys or wind up toys. I interviewed my Nanny Ellen. Her favourite toy was a xylophone. Ashley interviewed my auntie, her […] Daffodils: By Conor Last week we planted daffodils. We dug up dirt and when the hole was deep we put in the daffodils bulbs. We buried them. We hope to see them grow next Spring. Potatoes: By Kate Tommy Walsh helped us plant potatoes before the lock down. He looked after them for us during lock down. When we came back our teacher, Mr. Gallagher brought in buckets and shovels. We took turns going outside to dig in pairs. We got at least 18 potatoes per family in the […] Pumpkin Carving: By: Aoibhinn We got all the seeds out of the pumpkin. It felt slimy!! It was fun and I liked it. Teacher cut a face in the pumpkin. Then we lit it up. This is called a Jack O Lantern. Long ago people carved faces into Turnips instead. New Playground Surface: By Amber During the summer we got new mats for the playground. My Dad and other parents helped to put them down. They are so soft. We play tag on them. They are nice. We love them. Thank you to everybody who helped to get them for us. Our confirmation was on the 17th September. It had been cancelled during lock down. It was different, only parents and sponsors were allowed in. Fr.Gerry and Bishop John hosted the ceremony, it was lovely. There were eleven candidates. I chose John as my name and afterwards I went to my house and had cake. Céalan A self portrait is a portrait of yourself. We drew these on the 1st of September. Our two new Junior Infants are called Aoibhinn and Shay. Ashton Last week we had a visit from Fred The Party Professor. He juggled knives and swords, it was cool! Fred also juggled hula hoops. Fred asked Michael to go up and look through a window, on the other side there was a costume so it looked like Michael was dressed up. Fred got junior and […] Last Wednesday we went to Ballycastle to the Arts Centre. We were greeted and brought to do some drawing. It was a three part drawing. There was a funny clown, he kept blowing the trumpet. We saw a boy who could juggle swords. There was a girl doing hula hooping, she could do it with lots of hoops.
