We played a final in McHale park Castlebar against Carrowkennedy school. The score was 3-5 to 2-7. It was a really tough match for both teams as it was one of the hottest days of the year. We have been doing some outdoor planting, indoor stem activities, design and making boats, watching caterpillars change into butterflies, classroom presentations, outdoor quiz and taking part in the Cumann na mBunscol football competitions. Not only are we celebrating Lá Fhéile Pádraig but the wonderful people in the Irish American Partnership are helping all the children in our school by adding Mount Palmer National School to their Outdoor play and Learning programme. This programme aims to provide primary schools with […] Toady we had some fun making pancakes and even more fun eating them. It is pancake Tuesday and tomorrow is Ash Wednesday so we are keeping the tradition of using up the eggs and making pancakes. We had some lemon, jam, cream and chocolate on our pancakes. Thomas also make some scones which were delicious. Today we said farewell to the wonderful Mr McGregor. He has helped so many children in Kilfian down through the years. Yesterday we had a special mass and celebration to say thank you to Mr McGregor for all his work. We will all miss him and hope we will see him again soon. Here is […] Today we learned once again how to make our own St Brigid’s day cross. We collected the rushes at home or in some of the fields around the school. Some of the children made them from paper. We hope that they will last the whole year. Today we had a visitor to the school who will teach us how to play and get better at chess. Master Ruddy will visit our school each week this term to help us improve. We are all looking forward to taking part in some matches against other schools We brought shoe boxes with alot of toys, clothes and hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and handsoap, we do this so we can give to the kids in the poorer countries. We planted potatoes befor the summer and when we came back after the summer they were ready to be dug up. Some students dug up the potatoes and some of the other students washed them and peeled them and cooked them every student got some and they were very nice. A few people planted seeds in the ground on a windy day before the summer holidays not thinking much of it and came back to a lovely wild flower garden. Sixth class will now be managing the school website. Jo showed us how to upload on the school website. The Senior room visited the Jackie Clarke museum. We saw a lot of documents and artefacts.
