We got 5 caterpillars. They were really small. They stayed small for a little while but then they got bigger and bigger! After a few weeks the caterpillars hung upside down on the lid of the container. They got into their chrysalis position and made their cocoon. Then we put the cocoons in the butterfly habitat. Over a week later the butterflies emerged. They climbed onto the net because their wings were wet. When their wings dried we gave them food. They liked oranges, bananas and drinking nectar from flowers. We put nectar on daisies for them. We made nectar by mixing 100ml of water with 1 tsp of sugar. After 4 days we brought the habitat outside, opened the net and released the butterflies. Some of them didn’t want to go at first but we left them alone and they flew away.
